About the Artist
Christine Banks
is a lifelong artist with a strong background in multiple medias. In her free time Christine enjoys creating multiple forms of art, such as acrylic painting, drawing, graphic design and photography, stone cutting and sculpture. As an active member of the community, she has designed logos and ads for her local Business Association, and participated as an artist in the annual Summer Art Project charity program for several years. She has volunteered her time as Chairman of the Design Review Commission for the Village of La Grange (2 terms, from 2017-2023) and was the Marketing and Sponsorship Coordinator at her local Park District. Christine is currently serving a 3-year term as Appearance Commissioner for the Village of Homewood, Illinois (2023-present). Christine has curated her artwork for summer-long interactive exhibits at the La Grange Public Library (In My Backyard: art+nature exhibit 2018, Splash: World of Water 2019, The Art of Beanie the Spider 2022). Her award-winning fine art has been shown in galleries and exhibits throughout Chicagoland and the Midwest. Aside from the traveling art show related to her books, The Art of Beanie the Spider, Christine is otherwise on hiatus from exhibiting her artwork. Recently, she has donated a sizable amount of her collection to charity organizations for fundraising efforts. Her book series is titled Adventures of Beanie the Spider (www.beaniethespider.com), and is available for purchase at major retailers worldwide. Join Christine as she promotes children's literacy and the arts with engaging events and coloring contests throughout the year featuring Adventures of Beanie the Spider, as well as FREE printable games and activities online. Christine is an author/illustrator member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and the National Art Education Association. |
